We were appointed by our developer client to prepare scheme designs for a 1.3-acre site at
Courtown Harbour Co. Wexford.
The mixed development consisted of 78 apartments, 4 retail units, 3 offices, 1 health centre, 1 bar/restaurant, 1 crèche.
Shortly after carrying out our initial site analysis it became evident to us that an opportunity existed to pursue a design solution which would seek to integrate social and community needs, seasonal amenity requirements with commercial opportunity and our client’s development objectives. The solution arrived at creating a strong formal visual connection with the harbor and the town while considering the overall impact on traffic in high season.
All proposed development is designed with the intention that it be constructed to the highest sustainable design standards; incorporating materials with low embodied energy, employing cutting edge sustainable heating technologies, super-insulation techniques etc.
We see this proposed project as a fine example of a sensitive and appropriate design solution within a high tourist area.
